HISTORY OF THE COLLEGE

Federal Government Boys' College, Abuja, was established in May 1999 and modeled after Kings’ College, Lagos.

By October 1999, this present campus was temporarily allocated to Federal Ministry of Education by the Federal Capital Development Authority. It officially took off in the year 2000.

At inception, it had a population of 120 students, with Chief A. U Nwadike as the pioneer Principal (1999-2004). The College has so far had Ten (10) other Principals to date. They are:

Presently, the students population stands at one thousand seven hundred (1700), with a staff strength of two hundred and seventy five academic (275) and sixty five (65) non-academic staff.  We have an excellent mode of mentoring and preparing our students for higher education, leadership and global competitiveness.

Although the College is situated at Gudu District behind zone D of Apo Legislative Quarters, it has a second campus at Wuye District which is still under construction, all within the FCT. When completed, the Wuye campus will host the Junior Secondary Section, while the Apo campus will be inhabited by the Senior Secondary School.

The vision of the College is to be a model school, where every person who passes through it will imbibe the culture of National consciousness, academic excellence, good character and creativity.

To lay the foundation for that individual that will eventually stand out in the society in good character, ethical values, self discipline, creativity and educationally sound.
